Peter King, a founding partner of Guerra King P.A., is a mediator certified both by the Florida Supreme Court and the federal district court for the Middle District of Florida. Peter’s 26 years of complex commercial litigation experience representing defendants as well as claimants provides him an informed perspective when helping parties resolve their disputes. Peter has extensive experience litigating in federal and state courts, and in arbitration before the Financial Industry Regulatory Association (FINRA), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), and other tribunals, and has tried many cases to conclusion, including appeals. Peter has specialized in matters involving the financial services industry, and in commercial litigation matters involving claims of breach of contract, statutory violations, non-compete and other restrictive covenants, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, misrepresentation and omission, professional negligence, failure to supervise, defamation, and many others. He regularly represents clients in partnership and shareholder disputes, assisting them in achieving sensible business solutions in times of conflict. He has experience as a court-appointed neutral, including as a special master in discovery disputes, as a receiver, and as a statutory special litigation committee in a shareholder derivative action. As counsel for his clients, both at his current firm and as a partner at a large Florida firm, he has mediated hundreds of cases of every dimension. Throughout his career, Peter has ardently sought negotiated resolutions and looked for creative ways to achieve them as an alternative to the often-costly process of litigating through trial. Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995, Peter will continue to maintain an active practice in commercial litigation matters.
