Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month (“HHM”) takes place from September 15 through October 15 and celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Americans whose ancestry can be traced to over 20 countries in Latin America, including Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Chemere Ellis Presents On Florida’s Revised Service Of Process Legislation To Leading Business Law Practitioners

Chemere Ellis presented on Florida’s Revised Service of Process Legislation to leading business practitioners at the Florida Business Law Section’s Labor Day Retreat. The Service of Process legislation was just one of many that the Business Law Section drafted, supported, and lobbied to enact, and Chemere presented on some of the changes that will take effect January 2, 2023. The revisions to Chapter 48 will eliminate redundancies and inconsistencies in the statute and simplify service of process in the state of Florida.

Happy Women’s Equality Day

In 1971, Representative Bella Abzug (D-NY) championed a bill in the U.S. Congress, which passed in 1973, to designate August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” The observance of this day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote, and calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward equality. Although the 19th Amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920, it was not until its certification by proclamation on August 26, 1920, that it was officially enacted

The DEI Committee Honors International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed on August 9 every year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population.[1]  Indigenous populations around the world are vast and their cultures and customs are diverse and bountiful.  There are more than 370 million indigenous people in 90 different countries, and they account for 5% of the world’s population.[2] Indigenous peoples are divided between 5,000 different cultures and speak 4,000 different languages.
