Larry Dougherty, of counsel to the firm, has started a one-year term as president of the Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Litigation American Inn of Court in Tampa. The Inn is a group of 80 lawyers and judges that meet once a month for presentations on professionalism in litigation, pro bono service, and diversity. British barristers started the tradition of inns of court in the 14th century. Tampa has eight inns of court focusing on a variety of legal practices. The Smith Inn is named for the late Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. of Plant City, who led the Carlton Fields law firm and served as president of the Florida and American bar associations. The Smith Inn will continue to meet online when its programs resume in September.
