Chemere Ellis Joins Guerra King

Guerra King P.A. is pleased to announce the addition of Chemere Ellis as an associate with the firm. A seasoned trial attorney, Chemere has represented the interests of the people of the State of Florida, government agencies, corporations, and individuals, among others. Chemere has served as lead counsel in forty jury trials and has served in the supervisory role of Lead Trial Attorney in the county courts of Pinellas County.


Kimberly A. Koves Named Shareholder At Guerra King

Tampa, FL — The law firm of Guerra King is pleased to announce that Kim Koves has been named a shareholder of the Firm. Kim obtained her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2012, where she served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Stetson Law Review and a judicial intern for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Jenkins, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She graduated cum laude from James Madison University with a degree in Political Science.


GK Proud Sponsor Of The Innocence Project Of Florida’s Stand Up For Innocence Event In Tampa

Guerra King, P.A. was a proud sponsor for the second year in a row of Stand up for Innocence,  a comedy show to benefit the Innocence Project of Florida.  The event, held on February 8th at historic Friday Morning Musicale in Tampa, helped raise critical funding for the Innocence Project’s litigation efforts on behalf of the wrongfully convicted.  The annual event involved a reception and comedy show from three top national comedians.


Florida Appellate Court Cites GK Attorneys’ Work As “Textbook Example” Of How Special Litigation Committee Should Operate

On January 31, 2020, an opinion from Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal recognized the work of GK shareholders Peter B. King, Esq. and Jared J. Perez, Esq. as a “textbook example” of how a Special Litigation Committee should operate under the state’s Revised LLC Act.  Specifically, Hillsborough County Circuit Court Judge Paul J. Huey appointed Mr. King to serve as the Special Litigation Committee for defendant Downtown St. Pete Properties, LLC (DSPP) regarding certain derivative claims asserted in connection with a long-running real estate and corporate governance dispute.  He was tasked with investigating the claims and advising the trial court whether pursuing them was in DSPP’s best interests.  Mr. King hired Mr. Perez to assist him with the investigation.


R. Max McKinley Joins GK

Max McKinley has joined GK after serving as an Assistant State Attorney for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Tampa. At the State Attorney’s Office, Max prosecuted a multitude of criminal cases including punishable-by-life felonies and first-chaired numerous jury and bench trials.
